i hate dandruff!!! I'm having it for years now,sometimes it becomes worse that I'm so ashamed to go out...I've tried a lot of hair products,ranging from chemical anti dandruff to natural shampoo,conditioner, hair vitamins,oil etc.I've even put oil on my scalp everyday to prevent it from flaking.it doesn't help either.it becomes dryer when i wash my hair..shampoo that I've tried: selsun yellow n blue,head n shoulders,dove, pantene,rejoice etc,..my hair becomes brittle and falls a lot...please help me!..

whoa lass, let me guess, the first time you got dandruff you were shocked, outraged, embarrassed- then you went out and bought some anti dandruff shampoo- that was your first mistake. If you've read any of germaine greer's books, you'll know that anti dandruff shampoos only keep you having dandruff. why? Because dandruff is a gold mine.

My best friend had chronic dandruff for years as well and I was living with him until I found a new place to live. I have the best shampoo in the world and Its my best beauty secret- I couldnt live without this shampoo. I rant and rave about it all the time and told him to use it and he loved it! He ended up using it behind my back the entire time I was there (which kinda ticked me off...) and after a while he was like a kid who just got cured of acne- his dandruff had completely gone away and he bought some and now thats all he uses as well. We both are advocates now for telling people to not even bother with fighting dandruff with anti shampoos-

go to a salon (i dont know where you live so you might have to check online (which i cant seem to find a website on the bottle...)

So get the shampoo- Abba Creme-Moist

And most importantly the conditioner- TruMint

The mint is what made my friend flip his lid. For dandruff, Id imagine the relief it would give your scalp, it tingles and makes your whole head so refreshed and moisturized.

Another trick is to buy a big bottle of aloe vera from superstore, it 100% pur aloe and if you put some of that on your scalp at night, whenever you feel the dryness, itchiness comming back, then leave it on overnight. Once a week, rub a small amount of Trumint through your hair as well and it'll keep you moisturized extra.

Aloespa has great great great hair products, check them out as well. Their product you put in after washing and leave it on for 15 mins, then wash out helped my hair like mad. (it was given to me as a promo and i havent been able to replace it yet cause they only sell online.)

consult a doctor for the dandruff n dont use all those products they may cause hair loss.....n for a thick n beautiful hair use herbal shampoos.......apply some coconut oil in ur hair daily n this will surely make ur hair strong n i think this will also get rid of that dandruff..............hope this would work! have a nice day!

I think you may need to see a dermatologist I'm sure they would know why its not going away. You could just have very dry skin. Maybe lack of nutrition?

Consult a doctor dear!! back in India i wud hav suggested u a shampoo called Nizral..

but than any chemicals, go for home remedies...

massage ur hair with olive oil..

or soak mustart seed at night and in the mrng used the water on ur hair...u can even apply the mustard paste for sometime and wash ur hair..

till now the best and effective treatment for dandruff i've seen is lemon.

Squeeze a lemon and put the liquid directly on to ur scalp..

continue till dandruff goes away, but not daily..maybe twice a week...or else u'll end up having more gray hair

dandruff is a naturally occurring condition, some people have it worse than others. if you have a bad problem, perhaps you would like to try a shampoos with tar in it. tar is used to soften and remove the scale of dandruff and other similar conditions. Balentar is one such shampoo, don't know if it still requires a prescription though.. you don't use a regular shampoo with it , just rinse. good luck
