What is the purpose of using saran wrap on hair?

I have african american hair. after my stylists removed my hair rollers, she wraps my hair, and then places saran wrap around it. then i sit under the dryer for a few more minutes.

Also what setting should the dryer be and how long should i remain under the dryer with the saran wrap? thanks
